New volunteer counsellors needed at Help Counselling

We are currently looking for new volunteer counsellors to join the Help team.

  • Are you ready to take on 3 clients each week?
  • Are you keen for a taste of what it’s like to work as a therapist?
  • Do you want to prepare for a future in private practice?

With a placement at Help, you can learn how to carry out assessments and to work longer term with clients. This can help you prepare for an eventual move into private practice.

Slots are available throughout the week in the morning, afternoon or evening.

A highlight of our placement is the weekly group supervision you’ll receive from experienced UKCP accredited therapists – available at a heavily subsidised rate. Your group will help support you in developing your practice and in working through issues with your clients.

Requirements for a placement

We ask that you are enrolled on a UKCP and/or BACP approved postgraduate level counselling training and be happy to work with an integrative approach to counselling. You should be working towards UKCP and/or BACP accreditation, with at least 75-100 supervised hours of 1-1 counselling experience.

How to apply

Applying for a placement is easy.

Send us an email to express your interest, along with a brief CV listing your counselling and other professional experience. Please state the number of hours of supervised 1-1 counselling you have completed, the course you are studying and the name of your training centre.

It is also helpful if you can indicate when you might be available to see clients during the week.
