Requirements for a Placement at Help Counselling
To be considered for a placement at Help Counselling, you must meet the following criteria:
Education & Membership:

- Be enrolled in a BACP/UKCP-approved postgraduate-level counselling course.
- Hold student membership with BACP, UKCP, or another recognised professional registration body
Client Work Readiness:

- Receive clearance from your training organisation to work with long-term clients (both online and in-person).
- Adhere to BACP/UKCP ethical guidelines for counsellors in training.

Personal Therapy:

- Be engaged in weekly, ongoing psychotherapy/counselling with a qualified and accredited therapist for the duration of your placement.
References & Commitment:

- Provide two satisfactory references, one of which must be from your training organisation.
- Commit to a minimum of 12 months on placement and work with at least three clients.
Supervision:

- Attend mandatory fortnightly supervision sessions, lasting 90 minutes, in a group with up to four supervisees.
Financial Contribution:

- Contribute £30 per month towards the cost of in-house supervision.
Insurance & DBS Check:

- Provide proof of professional indemnity insurance with coverage of at least £1 million.
- Undergo a DBS check before starting any client work.
